Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is core to our teaching philosophy at Trillium Academy. Hands-on, project-based learning gives students immediate feedback; requires problem solving, collaboration, and effective communication; and provides students with experiences they need to build confidence and resilience in tackling challenges. This approach allows students several entryways into the curriculum so that they can come from a place of strength and engage intentionally with the material. Our teachers often dive spontaneously into student-initiated rabbit holes, bridging the gap between student interests and the learning objectives in a particular class or lesson.

While experiential learning is integrated into all our classes at Trillium, there are a few aspects of our program that are more focused on experiential and embodied learning.
