Student Support Spotlight
Fueling Student Success


Trillium offers a snack cupboard for students to supplement the food they bring to campus. These snacks are intended to support well-being, regulation, and maintaining blood sugar levels.




Student Support Services funds the program, with students shaping the offerings through their requests. Families have also contributed snacks that reflect their students' tastes and needs. Providing access to snacks is one of the many ways we support students in staying regulated, engaged, and ready to learn!




Students
Middle schoolers completed puzzles and crafts in the art house this week, fostering creativity and collaborative problem-solving.
The middle school enjoyed a field trip to the University of Washington, including a greenhouse tour, plus games like bowling, pool, and air hockey at the UW HUB.
The high school went on their trip to Oregon, they visited Lewis & Clark College, explored Mount Hood, went on a ghost tour, and so much more!
Middle School Field Trip to the Frye Art Museum and Museum of Bad Art
Wednesday April 22


The middle school will visit the Frye Art Museum after spring break to see the wallflower exhibit and the permanent collection. After lunch, students in the D&D club will return to campus for their campaigns, while the rest of the students will travel to Belltown to visit the Museum of Bad Art.
Trillium Prom
Friday, May 29, 7:00-9:00 pm


We're hosting a school dance for the current 8th - 12th graders at Trillium Academy! The Theater will be open with DJ Brain & Emma for dancing and food, colored lights, and fun! The Community Room will have a movie playing, and we'll have a photo booth set up in the downstairs hallway! There will be no dress requirements, however some may choose this opportunity to dress more formally.

TIPS Tutoring Program




We are piloting a Tutor program through TIPS and have worked with them to hire a part-time tutor, Emily, for six hours per week until June 3. Our intent with this model is to provide targeted small-group and one-on-one instruction to plug into classes for students who need extra support. We advertised this tutoring position as focused on writing and math support, based on the needs we knew existed in our current classes and students.




Emily is familiar with the autistic/ADHD community as well as math and independent school settings. She has 25 years of experience in math teaching and tutoring at the Bush School, Latin School of Chicago, and Horace Mann School. She is supporting middle school science classes in writing and study skills, as well as high school math classes.

Sunday Chess Club

Chess Club with Coach Leo continues after spring break! This is an opportunity for students to learn about the game while developing skills and strategies, and connect with their peers. Chess Club is open to students in grades 5-12 from other area schools.




Taught by Dr. Leo Stefurak, Chess Club will meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Tech use is a common concern for our parents, and we are offering a new parent education and connection series in partnership with Daniel Oglivie, our part-time counselor who specializes in video gaming addiction. The first few sessions will include presentations on screen compulsion, tech use disorder vs. addiction, and Trillium's approach to mitigating tech issues. Later sessions will evolve based on the group's interests and needs, with a focus on collaborative discussion. Volunteers Needed for Spring Open House

We are seeking several parent and student volunteers, both middle and high school, for our Trillium Academy spring Open House on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Volunteers are needed from 9:30 am - 11:30 am, and are welcome to stay for the whole event.




Duties include welcoming, guiding, and speaking with visitors about Trillium Academy and your family's experience. Some student volunteers may be asked to assist with some activities if they are interested.
