Seattle Traffic Update




This weekend, the Seattle Department of Transportation started planned construction on northbound I-5 for major preservation and repairs. Through June 8, the mainline northbound freeway will be reduced to the two right lanes from north of Mercer Street to Northeast 45th Street. Throughout the lane restrictions, the express lanes will run northbound only 24 hours a day. Those traveling south of the work zone may also be affected as the express lanes will not reverse as usual. Highlights from the Classroom
Middle School Math
In math this week, middle school students applied their knowledge of polygons by playing a game of "Guess Who." After making the boards by hand, students had to use analytical and speaking skills to narrow down their competitors' shapes.
High School ELA
Ninth and tenth grade students in Char's ELA class decoded a letter from over 250 years ago, using analytical and critical thinking skills. The icons and outdated turns of speech made this exercise particularly difficult!

Middle School students have the option to go on a short morning outing to Seward Park with Kate Lewis to learn about birds of prey and their vital role in the food web. Temperance and Good Citizenship Day, January 16
As part of the Future Voter program, eligible high school students will be given the opportunity to register to vote and learn more about the impact of voting. Afternoon classes will be suspended in place of this on-campus programming.

Sunday Chess Club

This is an opportunity for students to learn about the game while developing skills and strategies, and connect with their peers. Chess Club is open to students in grades 5-12 from other area schools.




Taught by Dr. Leo Stefurak, Chess Club will meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Parenting Gifted and 2e Youth Navigating Mental Health Challenges

This Community Group through SENG is geared towards parents of gifted and twice-exceptional children and is designed specifically to address some of the unique issues, needs, and challenges faced by these children. This group will cover topics like how to look out for common mental health challenges in the gifted population and how to deal with family and friends who don't understand your child's giftedness or twice-exceptionality.
