Staffing Update




We would like to share that Lorelei Amato will be leaving Trillium at the end of next week. Following a recent loss in her family, she has made the decision to pause her work and focus on her personal life during this time.




We are all deeply grateful to Lorelei for her thoughtful and invaluable work in setting up the art house this year. She brought a quiet, calm spirit of crafting to the student community at Trillium. Her presence has meant a great deal, and she will be truly missed.




We will hold Lorelei and her family in our thoughts as she takes this time away.
Students
Middle school students practiced algebra by matching cards with radical expressions.
The high school students worked on preparing and staining bacterial samples.
The high school went on a mind-bending adventure at the Museum of Illusions.
Middle School Field Trip to UW
Wednesday, April 8, 9:00 am - 2:10 pm


The middle school will be attending a field trip to the UW HUB for bowling, a campus walk, and a greenhouse tour. Students will leave campus at 9 am and will return at 2:10 via the bus. Due to the travel time and schedule, students on the trip will miss D&D that day.




Trillium Prom
Friday, May 29, 7:00-9:00 pm


We're hosting a school dance for the current 8th - 12th graders at Trillium Academy! The Theater will be open with DJ Brain & Emma for dancing and food, colored lights, and fun! The Community Room will have a movie playing, and we'll have a photo booth set up in the downstairs hallway! There will be no dress requirements, however some may choose this opportunity to dress more formally.

TIPS Tutoring Program




We are piloting a Tutor program through TIPS and have worked with them to hire a part-time tutor, Emily, for six hours per week until June 3. Our intent with this model is to provide targeted small-group and one-on-one instruction to plug into classes for students who need extra support. We advertised this tutoring position as focused on writing and math support, based on the needs we knew existed in our current classes and students.




Emily is familiar with the autistic/ADHD community as well as math and independent school settings. She has 25 years of experience in math teaching and tutoring at the Bush School, Latin School of Chicago, and Horace Mann School. She is supporting middle school science classes in writing and study skills, as well as high school math classes.

Sunday Chess Club
April 19, 26; May 3, 10, 17, 31; June 7




Chess Club with Coach Leo continues this spring! This is an opportunity for students to learn about the game while developing skills and strategies, and connect with their peers. Chess Club is open to students in grades 5-12 from other area schools.




Taught by Dr. Leo Stefurak, Chess Club will meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Summer Work Experience Opportunity

Tech use is a common concern for our parents, and we are offering a new parent education and connection series in partnership with Daniel Oglivie, our part-time counselor who specializes in video gaming addiction. The first few sessions will include presentations on screen compulsion, tech use disorder vs. addiction, and Trillium's approach to mitigating tech issues. Later sessions will evolve based on the group's interests and needs, with a focus on collaborative discussion. Volunteers Needed for Spring Open House

We are seeking several parent and student volunteers, both middle and high school, for our Trillium Academy spring Open House on Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Volunteers are needed from 9:30 am - 11:30 am, and are welcome to stay for the whole event.




Duties include welcoming visitors, guiding them, and speaking with them about Trillium Academy and your family's experience. Some student volunteers may be asked to assist with some activities if they are interested.
