About Trillium Academy

Trillium Academy is a school community in Seattle for highly capable individuals with complex learning profiles. We believe that a strengths-based approach to education is the key to unlocking a world of possibilities for these twice-exceptional learners. Our unique learning environment enables students to unmask and experience education that adapts to their needs.

As a startup school now just 21 months old, we received our 501(c)(3) status only days before Giving Tuesday last year—an incredible moment that helped us build a foundation of support from our community. Because of that generosity, Giving Tuesday has become especially meaningful to us.

Giving Tuesday donations increase our capacity for financial aid offers and support the essential programming that is not covered by tuition. This includes:

* bringing in outside speakers that spark student interest
* purchasing materials for passion projects
* funding field trips that build resilience and deepen friendships
* support extracurriculars and electives like school performances

Please consider making a gift today—and thank you for helping us grow. We are deeply grateful for our community's continued support and partnership.

The Trillium Impact: Finding Belonging, Rediscovering Joy

When Ella arrived at Trillium Academy, she was stepping back into school after an 18-month leave. Like many twice-exceptional girls, she’d hidden her struggles behind her gifts—pretending everything was fine until she could no longer hold up the mask. When the pressure became unbearable, Ella broke down and was sent to the hospital to ensure her safety.

After intensive therapy and exploring various school options in the Seattle area, Ella's family heard about Trillium Academy and scheduled a shadow day. When her mom picked her up, Ella had truly enjoyed her time. “She’s used to having to pretend to be 'normal' and be what people want her to be. When she came to Trillium, she was with people like her who wouldn’t judge her. She could take down her mask and be her authentic self.”

Ella’s mom considers her daughter’s transformation a miracle. Before Trillium, Ella saw life in black and white: if she couldn’t get through traditional school and pursue her ambitious career goals, then life wasn’t worth living. Now she sees the gray areas and realizes there are other possibilities.

This spring, Ella is graduating. She plans to take college classes part-time before considering a four-year program. Though she still deals with anxiety and perfectionism, the pressure has lifted. “My only regret is that we didn’t start her in a grade lower. I would have liked to give her one more year here.”

At Trillium, students like Ella discover what’s possible when they have the safety to take down their mask, show up authentically, and receive the support and encouragement they desperately need. Here, they find belonging, confidence, and a renewed love of learning. Support Trillium Academy this Giving Tuesday to deepen Trillium’s impact on Seattle’s twice-exceptional students.
